A Greater Return on Your Investment

 January 13, 2012

In this current age of technology we have access to more knowledge than ever before.  We also have many ways to make our jobs easier and more efficient.  But as we would all admit, with the increase in technology which was designed to make our jobs easier, we find ourselves having much more work to do.

Maybe it is because we can handle more work with the aid of technology that we are now doing the work of 3 or 4 people.  That alone can send a person into a frenzy.

Wednesday Word Study – Make the Most

 Make the Most

Transliteration: exagorazó
Phonetic Spelling: (ex-ag-or-ad’-zo)
Short Definition:
I ransom, redeem
Definition: I buy out, buy away from, ransom; mid: I purchase out, buy, redeem, choose.

1805 eksagoráz? (from 1537 /ek, “completely out from” which intensifies 59 /agoráz?, “buy-up at the marketplace”) – properly, take full advantage of, seizing a buying-opportunity, i.e. making the most of the present opportunity (recognizing its future gain).

In our Monday Meditation scripture we had the following verse:

Colossians 4:5-6

5) Be wise in the way you act toward those who are outside [the Christian faith]. Make the most of your opportunities. 6) Everything you say should be kind and well thought out so that you know how to answer everyone.

Monday Meditation Colossians 4:5-6

January 9, 2012

Today’s Meditation Verse:

Colossians 4:5-6

5) Be wise in the way you act toward those who are outside [the Christian faith]. Make the most of your opportunities. 6) Everything you say should be kind and well thought out so that you know how to answer everyone.

I once had a very dear mentor in the Christian faith who told me of a time when she was in prayer and saw a vision of herself and Jesus.  She said that He had taken her to the edge of a great pit to view it from above.  This pit was hell, but instead of the absolute darkness she was able to see all those there.

As she stood there and looked, Jesus said that those people over there were here (in hell) because of what Christians did not do.  Then He motioned and said that these people there were here because of what Christians did do.

That was a sobering thought and one that I have carried with me for 30 years.  Christians sociably can be quite proud and arrogant that they have found ‘the way the truth and the light’.  They are so ecstatically happy because of the love of Christ in their lives that they often fail to see that their words become condemning and condescending to others.  And this is not love.

Wait For the Wind

 January 6, 2012

I’ve been talking this week about hope.  Today I want to tell you a little bit of a personal story with a little teaching added in.

I’ve often thought of myself a ‘Jack of all trades’.  And it is true that I have done a lot in my lifetime and been very good and talented at most of them.  I attribute the talent and success to God.

But just being good at something doesn’t always mean that is your dream, especially when you are good at many things.  We are told in the bible that everything we put our hand to will prosper so it stands to reason as a child of God we will be good at many things.

Wednesday Word Study – Hope

 January 4, 2012

  Hope

Transliteration: elpis
Phonetic Spelling: (el-pece’)
Short Definition: hope, expectation
Definition: hope, expectation, trust, confidence.

1680 elpís (from elp?, “to anticipate, welcome”) – properly, expectation of what is sure (certain); hope.

Hope is something that is easily translated into a ‘feel-good’ emotional entity.  It ranks right up there with joy and love.

We use it a lot just like those words too.  “I hope so…” is a common phrase used a lot just like telling someone who is just a friend, “I love you…”  We know that love is so much more than that, but so is hope.

Monday Meditations – Romans 8:24-25

January 02, 2012

Today’s Meditation Verse:

Romans 8:24-25

24) For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? 25) But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

Each year when a new year starts there is always an air of expectation that goods things will come and that this fresh start is a milestone that the old and the bad is past and now new good things will come.

The First & Greatest Christmas Gift

December 23, 2011

When I got up this morning my husband Rick was already up.  Just after greeting each other good morning he said, “This is Saturday, right,” with eagerness in his voice.

I said, “No, it is Friday”.  He was quite disappointed.  He thought it was Christmas Eve.

Wednesday Word Study – Good Pleasure

 Good Pleasure

Transliteration: eudokia
Phonetic Spelling:
(yoo-dok-ee’-ah)
Short Definition:
good-will, favor
Definition: (a) good-will (good-pleasure), favor, feeling of complacency of God to man, (b) good-pleasure, satisfaction, happiness, delight of men.

Luke 2:14
“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

I know that there is a large population out there that believe that God is angry and eager to punish mankind.  I also know that there is a lot of people out there that believe that God punishes them and makes them sick and that makes them angry and fearful of God.

Monday Meditations – Luke 2:13-14

December 19, 2011

Today’s Meditation Verse:

Luke 2:13-14
13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

14 “Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”

Well it is less than a week before we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our savior.  Today I want you to meditate on verse 14 keeping this thought in mind.  ‘with whom He is pleased’.

On that day the angles proclaimed verse 14 and declared for those whom with God is pleased, that they should experience peace.

Now we can look around our world today and see very little peace.  In fact we are in that time when Jesus himself said there would be wars and rumor of wars.

So where is this peace?

It resides within our hearts.  The peace that passes all understanding is not understood because of the fact that no matter what wars and turmoil is raging on the outside, the peace still resides on the inside, untouchable.

God himself has placed it there in those whith whom He is pleased.

If you don’t feel that peace within your heart today, just ask Him.  Humble yourself to Him, submit your life to him and receive all that He has for you.

This week, this very day, take the time to ask for and receive His peace.  There is no better time.

Who We Really Are

 December 9, 2011

We’ve been talking this week about our heart, our inner soul and spirit, the true essence of ourselves.  We talked on Monday about receiving revelation knowledge in our hearts as opposed to knowledge in our minds.  This is the knowledge that brings power with it and cannot be taken away.  Revelation knowledge, knowledge in our hearts, changes us and transforms us.

For months I’ve been stressing the importance of learning to allow the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you in all that you do.  He does that from your heart.
