Do People Ever Really Change?

June 17, 2011

We often say that people don’t change.  We warn those in relationships of that very thing.  If you are in a relationship and think that you can change that other person with your love and care and nurture, you are wrong.  You will never change that person.

Same is true with friendships.  If you are staying in relationship that causes you grief, but you stay because you think that something you will do will change them, you are wrong.  You might as well raise up the white flag and abandon ship right now.  You will never change anyone.

But, people do change.  I’ve seen the most despicable sinful people become godly men and women seeking after the Father.  People I would have long since given up on become more than I ever thought they would become.  I’ve had to eat my words. Continue reading

Hard Work

Hard Work…

We wear that phrase like a badge of honor.

“I worked really hard today”.

“I logged 50 hours this week at work”.

“Man, I’m exhausted I’ve worked so hard”.

And I know you can come up with many more. After all, we have said something like that so many times and been very proud of that very fact. Continue reading

GIGO

June 10, 2011
I remember many years ago when I was studying computer science, first in vo-tech in the 70’s then in college in the 80’s, there was a term that was frequently used. It sounded funny, and we began to toss it around quite flippantly, but nevertheless one that is true and was birthed out of truth. The irony of that term is that it is pretty much universal, not just for computers. That term is GIGO or Garbage In Garbage Out.

Through the years I’ve come to realize this is critically true of us as humans. From the moment a baby is born, they are learning. They are taking in information which will develop them into the person they will become. The better the information they take in, the better person they will grow to be. Continue reading

Love and Its Fullness

June 8, 2011

LOVE!

What a word!

We hear that word from the moment we are born.

Mommy whispers in our ear, ‘Mommy loves you”.

As we grow we hear, and therefore learn, that big brother just ‘loves’ the neighbors new car. Big sister, ‘loves’ her new boyfriend she just had one date with. Mom ‘loves’ the new wallpaper in the bedroom. Dad ‘loves’ his new job. Continue reading

A Test of the Emergency Godcast System!

June 5, 2011

How many moments in our lives could truly be labeled,

“Attention. Attention. This is a test of the emergency GODCAST system!”?
As children of God we are continually being tested as to our quality.
I Peter 4:12 in the Amplified reads,

“Beloved, do not be amazed and bewildered at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test your quality, as though something strange (unusual and alien to you and your position) were befalling you.” (Emphasis mine). Continue reading
