Monday Meditations – Romans 8:24-25

January 02, 2012

Today’s Meditation Verse:

Romans 8:24-25

24) For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? 25) But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

Each year when a new year starts there is always an air of expectation that goods things will come and that this fresh start is a milestone that the old and the bad is past and now new good things will come.

That is hope.

…but hope that is seen is not hope…

Sounds kind of like faith, huh?  But actually hope is the framework for faith.  We need to see in our mind, guided by our heart, that which we ‘hope’ will happen or be.

Faith without hope is just like pouring jell-o on the cabinet without a jell-o mold.  All you have is a big mess.  But get that mold out, pour in the jell-o and watch what takes shape.

So this year let me encourage you to not just willy-nilly believe for God’s will or that good things will come, decide what dreams and goals God has placed in your heart and then hope that those things will be.  Then you have a framework to pour your faith into.

…with perseverance we wait eagerly for it…

Yes there are going to be times when you will want to give up.  Yes there will be times when you are struggling to remember what it is you are believing for.  Yes there will be times when discouragement sets in to the point that you want to give up.

But – you must wait eagerly with perseverance for that which you do not see.

So today instead of making a bunch of New Years Resolutions that you will not keep.  Search your heart for those great dreams and goals that God Himself has placed there.  Pull them out, dust them off, pour your faith into them and then give them to God.

Now wait.  Move when He directs you to move and in the direction He leads you to move.  When there is no clear direction, patiently wait.  And all the while maintain eager expectation!  I believe you will see dreams come true this year.  Dreams you’ve not ever dared to dream.

Let us know what your dreams are and we will agree with you in prayer.  And keep us posted on the progress.  We love exciting testimonials and success stories!!

God bless you and have a great year!!

Nancy! I cannot believe you wrote this today!! You know my hope, my dream; and in reading this I see that you know where I am in the genesis of that dream. Right now, this dream can take so many different directions and I do want to give up. I do know that God gave this dream to me and I have faith that He will see it through (if it is to come about), In His Time. Thank you for this post today and God Bless You, my FB friend.

Good to hear this Sharon! I know the our dreams take such a hit as we are so busy and get so easily discouraged from fatigue of waiting and hoping. It is hard when we don’t see movement and we come to believe that maybe we ‘missed’ God and that what we thought was from God was really just a vain desire. But I believe that if there is a dream in our heart of hearts, God has placed it there and we are not to give up! Keep dreaming Sharon and be encouraged today!!
