Monday Meditations – Ephesians 1:17-18

November 28, 2011

Today’s Meditation Verse:

Ephesians 1:17-18
17)that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. 18)I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,

This entire passage from Ephesians 1:15-23 is amazing!  But for today since this is Meditation Monday I wanted to pick out a verse or two to meditate on for the week.

The passage I mentioned above is Paul describing to the Ephesians what he prays for them and I feel we could take this example and pray this exact thing for others.  In fact periodically throughout my life I did that very thing.  I would write this prayer down and actually insert the names of the people I wanted to pray for and would pray this prayer out loud.

I believe this is the most important thing that you can pray over/for someone.  Why you might ask?

Personally I believe that our problems in life are because we do not understand or perceive what God has done or is doing in our lives.  If we could understand, have the eyes of our heart enlightened, so that we understand the depth of His love for us then we would rest in Him and trust Him to navigate our lives.  We would not be compelled to take back the reigns of our life feeling the need to control events in the direction we feel they should go.

If we could understand, have the eyes of our heart enlightened, so that we understand just exactly what the sacrifice of Jesus provided for us on the cross, we would feel the royal sonship and live reigning in life as the kings and priests we were meant to be.

If we could understand, have the eyes of our heart enlightened, so that we understand that healing, wealth and all things are there for the taking as a child of God then we would not focus on what we do or do not have and allow that to tarnish our attitudes.  In fact knowing the abundance that has been provided for us would in turn cause us to be abundantly generous to others in need.

If we could understand, have the eyes of our heart enlightened, so that we understand that the Holy Spirit has been given to provide an abundance of wisdom, and emotional stability, peace and self-control.  In today’s society of busy-ness and turmoil is in itself one of the most outstanding gifts to posses as a child of God.

But none of these things will come without revelation knowledge.  This is not head knowledge, but heart knowledge.  A knowing deep inside that cannot be taken away from you.  It comes by hearing and reading the Word, spending time with the Father and asking the Holy Spirit for the revelation that only He can give.  And we will know because we know deep inside that we are healed, whole, set free, prosperous, favored, destined to reign in life and so much more!

If you are determined to be good ground and receive what He has for you with a true hunger for whatever He should choose to reveal to you, you will never again know lack mentally, physically, spiritually, or emotionally.  As He begins to reveal these things to you, there will be a transformation from the inside out that will change your life forever just as a caterpillar becomes a butterfly!
