Monday Meditations – John 1:12

September 26, 2011

Today’s Medication Verse:

John 1:12

12) But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name,

From the time Christ was here and came to bring the pure undiluted and perfect gospel, man himself has set out, even if unintentionally to dissect and dilute it.

Through the years there have become thousands of different beliefs on not only religion, but also the gospel itself.  Churches continue to split even now in regards to what they want to believe is the truth.

There is a belief that permeates many of the hearts and minds of people around the world.  That belief is that ‘if I am a good person’ I will be ok.  I will go to heaven.  Many people who attend church even believe that very thing.

I want to start your mind to thinking and your heart to searching today.  If you will bear with me through the week I hope to unravel and allow God to reveal more about the scripture above as well as related scriptures.  But today I want to dissect this verse just a bit to get you thinking.

If you will look at the scripture where it says “that as many as received Him, to them He gave the RIGHT to become children of God…”

When you receive Jesus he gives you the authority to BECOME a child of God, future tense.

Meditate on this scripture this week.  From the time we accept Jesus and acquire the right to become a child of God, just what happens to cause us to actually become a child of God?  You won’t want to miss the Wednesday Word Study this week and my blog on Friday.
