Monday Meditations – Hebrews 11:1

August 15, 2011

Today’s Meditation Verse:

Hebrews11:1 KJ
1
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

This verse is the definition of faith!  What is faith?  Well if you will picture this with me…

You want to build a patio so you get some boards and you begin to build a form with those boards the size of the patio you want to build.  You could say that the form is the hope of a patio.

Then you get your concrete and it begins to pour into the form and takes the shape of the form.  The concrete is the substance of the patio.

You could take that little analogy and read it into the verse this way:

Now concrete is the substance of the patio hoped for, and the evidence of the patio before it was seen.

What is it today that you hope for?  Begin to see what it is and what it will be.  That is hope.  Then as you walk with God allow Him to ‘fill-in’ your form of hope until you have what you saw in hope!

I love the visualization of looking forward and seeing what God is going to do! And sometimes it may take awhile, but we need to keep seeing our fulfilled hope and keep our faith strong!

It’s so exciting when you pray in faith, and before you can even see your answer, you just know God is going to answer your prayer! When I first starting working in the medical office field after 20 years of teaching preschool, I was very green, and had soooo much to learn. I typed in what I believed to be the correct information on the computer to run the patient appointment schedule for the next day, and the printer kept running and running and running! The asst. supervisor came to my desk and asked me what I did. To make a long story short, she ended up callind the IT guy to stop the printer, as it was printing schedules for all of the offices at other locations (quite a few), and I heard her shout into the phone, “You’re telling me there’s NO WAY to stop it??!!! “Oh God”, I prayed, “please stop the printer. you know I just started this job, I don’t want to get fired”. The printer stopped. The supervisor came to my desk and asked if I did anything to the printer, I said, “No, but I prayed” She looked at me in utter disbelief and then said, “yes, I believe you did”. That was the beginning in our relationship of me sharing Jesus with her, that made an impact on her life. Faith turned a mistake into a witnessing tool, and an opportunity for someone to learn about Jesus.
