Mary vs. Martha

This week our pastor Jon Chasteen preached a wonderful sermon about a topic we’ve heard preached many times. He however, preached it differently than most sermons on that topic.

It was wonderful and insightful and flowed with a theme the Holy Spirit has been threading through the last several sermons, being present in the moment.

We all know the story of Martha and Mary where Martha was busy and Mary was seemingly doing nothing, sitting at the feet of Jesus.

let’s consider a few things as we ponder this scripture.

deuteronomy 8:18 – but remember the lord your god, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your forefathers, as it is today.

there are countless scriptures in the bible confirming god’s desire for us is to have more than enough, living an abundant life. but there are so many who are not living in abundance.

“I worked really hard today”.

“I logged 50 hours this week at work”.

“Man, I’m exhausted I’ve worked so hard”.
