Monday Meditations – I John 1:3

October 10, 2011

Today’s Meditation Verse:

I John 1:3

3What we have seen and [ourselves] heard, we are also telling you, so that you too may [d]realize and enjoy fellowship as partners and partakers with us. And [this] fellowship that we have [which is a [e]distinguishing mark of Christians] is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ (the Messiah).

The point that I want to bring out in today’s scripture is shown by using the Amplified Bible.  And that point is where John states that we have fellowship with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ.  The brackets in the Amplified state that this is a distinguishing mark of Christians.

So, we as Christians know that Jesus said the only way to come to God is through Him.  We believe that and receive that.  So we know that anyone who says that there are many ways to God and many forms of God are incorrect.

But here John states that the thing that distinguishes us is our fellowship with God and Jesus.

If you look at other so called deities, they are worshiped as we worship our God, but the dividing line is that they don’t enter into a sonship with their deities who allow them the opportunity and privilege to have fellowship with them.  They must serve them from a distance in a subservient position.

We honor God and revere Him, but He is our father.  Jesus is the first born of many, us!  He is our big brother whom I love so dearly and can, and do, talk to continually.

I know my God is the one true God and I serve Him for that very reason, but just the thought that He also has made a way for me to be His child and for me to fellowship with Him is overwhelmingly humbling.  I can’t imagine anyone wanting to serve any other deity but Jehovah God!
