Monday Meditations – 2 Timothy 3:16

Aug 8, 2011

Today’s Meditation Verse:

2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;

This scripture seems like an obvious statement.  But there are aspects to this verse that many people disregard.  One item is the very first word.  It says ALL scripture is inspired by God and profitable…

I know that there are many people in many walks of life in many different churches who say that only parts of the scriptures are relevant to us today.

They disregard the history of the Old Testament.  The genealogies of Christ and others.  They can’t understand the book of Revelation so they push it off for later.  Of course Numbers and Leviticus is difficult.

But this scripture says ALL scriptures are profitable for teaching, reproof and correction, for training in righteousness.  Even the most difficult to read hold nuggets that will help transform your life.

As you meditate on this scripture this week, contemplate what scriptures you have neglected, avoided or ignored and ask the Father to help you read them and learn from them.  You may just be surprised what golden nugget He has waiting there for you!

    Hbr 4:12 For the word of God [is] quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and [is] a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

    I believe it is difficult for some to accept that God does know everything. And also, difficult for them to accept that He knew us then (when inspiring the writing of His Word) and could give us books of examples by which we could pattern our lives today.

    When one understands this, it is so easy to know that He is always with us and that He is for us and will be there to help us when we encounter worldly temptations.

    Thank you, ladies of the Testify blog, for giving us these Meditations and their explanations, to help us in our journeys of life.

      Sharon thank you so much! I love that scripture and YES He always knew us and had us in mind when orchestrating the Bible, His Word.

      Many years ago when I decided to start reading through with a 365 day Bible I diligently read through some of the places I never thought I could get through and low and behold wonderful tidbits of pure golden word seeped through where I had previously thought there could never be anything relevant.

      We appreciate your support! Stay tuned. We know you will love what is to come!

      Sharon I love that scripture! You made a great point! If any person ever realizes God’s true love for us as individuals then they can never turn away from Him.

      We are hoping that the new direction of the blog will provide a usefull resource for all those reading. We want to offer encouragement, enlightenment and understanding of the scriptures. It is only the Word and the revelation of the Word in our hearts that brings true inner transformation. That is our heart. That is our goal.
